Army reconstructs access roads to Jaffna's two remote villages
Access roads to two remote villages, Kovilakkandy and Navatkuli which were in need of urgent repair due to constant use were reconstructed within two days by the soldiers of the 18th Gemunu Watch (18 GW) of Thanankilappu for the convenience of residents in the area.
As those roads had not been touched for timely renovations, transportation was a bitter experience for road users. Although reconstruction of them was a dire need for residents in those villages, they lacked sufficient resources and necessary man power for the task.
Finally, soldiers of the 18 GW, with guidance of the Commander 523 Brigade Colonel Ajantha Wijesuriya undertook the reconstructions and completed it within two days. Villagers also cooperated in this community welfare project of the soldiers by providing lunch and tea during the two days. About 90 soldiers participated in the project. Info dpt
