A three day International Security Conference organized by the Sri Lanka Army will begin Colombo tomorrow. Representatives from 42 countries will attend the conference and will be held at the Galadari hotel. The inaugural address will be delivered by the Defence Secretary Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. The conference is expected to inform the foreign representatives about the rehabilitation and resettlement activities in the post conflict period in Sri Lanka.
Minister of External Affairs Prof. G. L. Peiris, and President’s Secretary Mr. Lalith Weeratunga are also scheduled to address the conference.
Organizers of the conference said that Minister Prof. Peiris is scheduled to address the participants regarding the Northern Province resettlement and rehabilitation process. And President’s Secretary Mr. Lalith Weeratunga will inform the participants on the progress being made in the implementation of the recommendations by the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission.
Several Army officials including Jaffna Security Forces Commander Maj. Gen Mahinda Hathurusinghe and Maj. Gen. Kamal Gunaratne are also scheduled to address the Conference. (niz)
